Stop Confusing Habits For Routines – The Power of Habit – The Joy of Routine – Nir Eyal

Many people have habits that they would like to change, while they also have routines that need modification. There are also new ideas they would like to take on as habits and time after time they fail to do so. Why? Is that new habit really a habit? Is it perhaps a routine that is being confused as a habit? Put down the self-help book a moment and analyze the situation.

Author Nir Eyal takes the reader on a journey into the psychology of habits and routines. These two ideas are often confused and mishandled, leaving many people to be frustrated as they try to improve themselves and their lives. Often, it is best to start a new habit as a routine until conscious effort is no longer required in order to do it. The brain detachment and muscle memory of the routine is very important to make it a habit. Routines that will always require quite a bit of mental involvement, like paying the bills or practicing the piano, will never become habits. If one confuses these and believes such a routine can become a habit, they will continue to be frustrated and feel inadequate. Stop trying to make a routine into a habit!

Nir Eyal gives some tips on how to identify if a routine can become a habit and ways to make the transformation so it will be successful. Improve your life by learning what is a routine and what is a habit, then make the proper decisions for good success.

Have you read Charles Duhigg’s books like The Power of Habit? How would you compare Charles Duhigg advice and assessment with Nir Eyal’s observations and scientific analysis? Surely “The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business” is more comprehensive and how successful are those who read these books and take the advice of Charles Duhigg?

Make a new start with the 2020 habits you really want. Start a proper new routine and create a beneficial new habit. The Power of Habit audiobook may help.

Brie Larson Wants More Money – Fans Want Brie Larson Replaced

For a second time, a petition to replace Brie Larson with a gay woman of color is making the rounds and nearing 30,000 signatures. Bryon Lape reported on this petition back in May 2019, but it has come up again. Fans who support this petition want to see a Monica Rambeau as Captain Marvel and not the Carol Danvers imposter of the modern incarnation. Various rumors have stated that Monica will be a part of Captain Marvel 2, so having her as a version of Ms. Marvel is still possible.

On the same day the petition came back to life, Brie Larson announced she had some demands to be met if she is to be a part of Avengers 5. Though the exact time frame for Captain Marvel 2 and Phase 5 have not been fully announced, Brie Larson stated she wanted to make the same money as her Avengers co-stars. Rumor also has it that Marvel wants Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to take on the lead of the Avengers going forward, though the most likely road has Captain Marvel and Spider-Man in a co-learship role similar to Iron Man and Captain America. Brie Larson was payed much more the first Captain Marvel movie than Robert Downy, Jr. was for Iron Man, so the call for more money seems misplaced. How will Marvel handle the demand?

Much has been made previously about Kevin Feige deciding to bring Captain Marvel into the MCU so late in the game. Rumors between Brie Larson and Elizabeth Olson started quite soon with some stating Olson was not happy her Scarlet Witch character was placed behind Captain Marvel. The announced Disney+ show Wandavision has helped to alleviate some of the bad feelings, but it is a cosmic wonder as to their roles in the MCU phase 5. Tony Stark may also return as some manner of a hologram and give advice to Peter Parker and Carol Danvers. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is wide open for the future.

Learning To Love Old Man Luke – Reliving The Last Jedi Of Disney Star Wars

The Disney Star Wars trilogy has divided the fans of the original movies into many camps. No other movie is more divisive of the fans than The Last Jedi. Many fans did not care for Rian Johnson’s subversion of expectations and a measuring contest with J.J. Abrams. The Last Jedi closed many of the things The Force Awakens left open, perhaps the most egregious being the removal of Snoke which left a hole were the main antagonist had been. Once people watched The Last Jedi, many wondered where the story could go next. Was the Disney Star Wars trilogy actually over now?

Enter The Rise Of Skywalker.

J.J. Abrams retconned and undid many of the failings of The Last Jedi. So much was rushed and packed into The Rise of Skywalker, many viewers left the theater out of breath. Once she had taken the last movie of the Disney Star Wars trilogy in, Donna Dickens returned to The Last Jedi and re-evaluated the movie Rian Johnson had created. Through the backward lens of hindsight, Donn Dickens was able to appreciate the Last Jedi in a new light, including learning to love old grumpy cat Luke Skywalker. So much so, she wrote a blog post about the experience, using Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb as inspiration for the title. By the way, if you have not seen Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, you do owe it to yourself to watch it. Peter Sellers is fantastic.

Join along as Brainmuffin reads Donna Dickens’ article about what she now sees in The Last Jedi. Is she reading too much into the Rian Johnson film? Are these connections with the Rise of Skywalker and the Force Awakens really in the film? Are these connections nothing more than well created fan fiction to help understand a horribly written and edited movie? Are Rian Johnson’s subversion of expectations brilliant plot devices or should they be seen as incoherent ramblings of a mad man? Listen to Brainmuffin read the article and leave your feedback in the comments.

Donna Dickens article might push too far into Star Wars explained, though she does let J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson’s movies align more than many fans, most notably Geeks and Gamers, allows. Kathleen Kennedy was the overseer of the sequel Star Wars trilogy and she approved the approaches and the stories. Kathleen Kennedy fired nearly as many directors as who finished their movies. The ride through the new Star Wars era has been and odd one. While the movies brought in good money, except Solo: A Star Wars Story, the merchandise sales have plummeted to all time lows and Disney is not getting the money they expected when they bought the cash cow from George Lucas.

Young adult fiction fans really want Kylo Ren and Rey to be together romantically. If Kylo fully turned back to the Light side of the Force, should be now be called Ben Solo? If Rey was honoring his sacrifice and she was aligning to her statement to him as wanting Ben’s hand, should she have said her name is Rey Solo instead of Rey Skywalker at the end of The Rise Of Skywalker? As for nicknames for the pair, Reylo works much better than ReyBen. Perhaps in the next season of The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda will give Reylo a proper name.

Kate Upton Gets Candid About Her Body – Fitness And Health – Body Positive Curvy Women

In 2012, Kate Upton had her first cover on Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the press started to hound her. While some were positive about Kate Upton’s body and shape, many were negative, some calling her fat. The negative comments tugged at Kate Upton’s insecurities and tarnished her body image. After the experience, Kate Upton didn’t want to wear a bikini in public for fear of the finger pointing and the creepy comments.

Now Kate Upton is 27 and a mom. Being positive about her curves and striving for fitness over thinness, Kate is making an impact with her #ShareStrong Instagram campaign. She believes curvy women need to be body positive and use fitness not as a way to get skinny, but to be healthy. Being a sexy model starts with attitude and belief in yourself. Nina Agdal also uses fitness to stay healthy, without being in the gym constantly.

Kate Upton joined the Skimm’d From The Couch hosts Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg to talk about her experiences as a model, being a mom, and reaching fitness to help with being healthy and curvy. Is Kate learning to use fitness and health as a way to find fulfillment?

The Blue Ocean Shift of 2020

A new year has started and the last year of the second decade of the 21st century is upon us. Are you ready for a the Blue Ocean Shift?

Too often people and companies get bogged down in the Red Ocean of over competition. They are constantly churning in the same space as everyone else, dividing the current market into smaller and smaller pieces. Organic growth is not possible and many feel like failures. There is no need to be this way. Enter a Blue Ocean.

What is a Blue Ocean? It is quite simple, expanding into a new area, a new market. For individuals, it is growing into new ideas and new methods. A business may create a new market with new products or expanding on an existing product in a new and novel way. The water in a Blue Ocean is clean. The waters do not churn.

As 2019 drew to a close, my YouTube channel was mostly in retreat. There are various reasons I was losing subscribers, but I was determined to be open to new avenues and new ideas. I started reading the book Blue Ocean Shift and it really started to teach me a few things. The rollover into 2020 brought growth back to my channel and a new outlook for the future. I stepped out of the Red Ocean of anger and bitterness and stepped into the Blue Ocean of Peace and Fulfillment. A growing channel was not the only positive.

In mid-November I left a job that I enjoyed to seek one that offered better fulfillment. Within the first two weeks, there was serious talk of me doing several Lunch and Learns to teach the junior developers. This was a large piece that was missing from my last job. This is why I was here. Each day as the challenges come forth, it is easier and easier to let the negative emotions go and live in the present in Peace and Gratefulness. It is amazing.

The other books I am reading is The Art of Living by Bob Proctor. This is a books I started several years ago and then neglected for too long. The Art of Living and Blue Ocean Shift books are incredible and well aligned. One book will bring up a point and the other will re-enforce the idea. For more alignment, watch some of Bob Proctor’s videos. The Secret is being aligned to the proper energy and believing you will succeed. Most likely you will have to change your subconscious. There is where the real battle is.

In this realm, the year 2020 is officially the year of alignment. Finding your path and purpose. Creating your Blue Ocean.
